CJ Flags Off First 2022 Judiciary Health Run

The Judiciary Health Run is back with all checks in place to ensure that all staff of the Judiciary are healthy.

The Health Run, which was flagged off this afternoon by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny - Dollo, at the Judiciary headquarters, will now become a weekly Friday fixture.

The Chief Justice expressed his commitment to the activity and called for exploring the possibility of having the health run at least twice a week to promote healthy living.

The Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana, encouraged the staff of the Judiciary to engage in the health run every Friday to help in their effectiveness at work. "Do it for fitness every Friday, it’s for your health," he noted. 

He equally used the platform to communicate that salaries had been paid and that payments for the consolidated allowances and operational funds had been processed. The PS/SJ also noted that the process to clear payments for sessions was underway.

He emphasized the need to observe Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures such as social distancing, sanitizing among others as a means to control the spread of the pandemic. 

The Health Run was agreed upon by the Judiciary Top Management in its meeting of August 7, 2019that resolved that mandatory physical fitness exercise be put in place.

The Run was attended by a cross-section of Judicial Officers who included the Principal Judge, Dr Flavian Zeija, Court of Appeal Justice, Hon. Justice Hellen Obura and High Court Judge; Hon. Justice David Matovu. The Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu equally participated.

Senior administrators including the Under Secretary, Ms Maureen Kasande, Commissioners; Eng Dr Christopher Ebal and Ms Apophia N Tumwine took part.
